Bentley Mulsanne W.O. Edition By Mulliner Case Is A 1 Percenter’s Key To Luxury

This year marks Bentley’s centenary, and the Brits are celebrating the anniversary in a number of ways.

One of them was the introduction of the Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner, which pays tribute to Walter Owen’s (the company’s founder) 8 Liter car. The firm’s flagship sedan is limited to 100 examples, each one getting some truly special amenities, including the newly-unveiled commemorative key case.

Created to make each handover more special, the handcrafted case has Dark Stained Burr Walnut, Piano Black veneer and Fireglow Heritage hide pull tab, matching the look of the special edition Mulsanne. It also features a polished exterior engraved with a 1919-2019 logo.

Inside, Bentley has added a range of memorabilia that celebrates its milestone. Included are a bespoke 1:18 scale model of Owen’s personal 8 Liter car, flying ‘B’ paperweight, printed brochure with images of the 1930 8 Liter that haven’t been shown before, and a set of three keys. Accompanying the case is a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Chairman and CEO, Adrian Hallmark, and Director of Design and Mulliner, Stefan Sielaff.

While Bentley’s history started in 1919, Mulliner’s roots can be traced back to the 1500s, when they used to create luxurious horse-drawn carriages. The two started working together in 1923, and their first project was the two-seater 3 Liter Bentley, showcased at the Olympia Show in London. Three decades later, Mulliner coachbuilt the R Type Continental, which served as the inspiration of the modern Continental GT.
