Vuram Technology Solutions completes 10 next year in autumn. Started in 2010 to help entrepreneurs building a stable partnership and applying their business plans, the company has come a long way over the years. A survey ranked Vuram Technology Solutions No. 16 among the top 50 Great Mid-Size Workplaces in the country for 2019. Headquartered in Chennai, Vuram has a worldwide presence. Its name comes from the Tamil word ‘Vuram’, which means nourishment. Venkatesh Ramarathinam, MD of Vuram Technology Solutions, informed BW Businessworld, “ The company was founded on the basic principle of nourishing workers, society and clientele. The vision of the company is to help clients attaining their goals with regards to the business process management. And it is staying true to its founding principles.”
Believing in the founding principles, he said: “Our value system and belief stem from our name. In the Tamil language, Vuram translates to ‘fertilised’ and implies ‘nourishment’. We wanted to create an organisation that acts as the nourishment for the people, where the people act as the ‘nourishment’ (Vuram) for our customers and together we act as the ‘Vuram’ for the society.” He further added: “With a strong purpose, it makes easy to run our organisation. Every practice and principle we follow are aligned with this core reason of our existence.”
Success has many different markers. Some consider financial gain as the indicator of success, whereas some look at the far-reaching impact. For Ramarathinam, success is directly proportional to customer satisfaction, which leads positive spreading, and employees come for an attractive work environment, not high salaries. “A successful company would be one where ‘sales’ is not a separate function, but one which grows purely through customer references and word of mouth. A company where you are not trying extra hard to recruit talent, but where talent wants to work,” he outlined his faith in the fundamental aspect of his company. Ramarathinam emphasised that the culture, which translates to core values, is vital to an organisation’s success. “It is okay for each organisation to have its own identity. Some would like to be a money-making machine, some prize innovation above anything else. For us, our dream is to be the happiest and a nourishing workplace, and we constantly work towards realising our dream,” Ramarathinam explained.
Often, large companies have been accused of neglecting or poorly treating their employees and client base. Vuram opposes this way of doing business. Its philosophy, according to Ramarathinam, was to treat everyone with respect, which was based on a golden rule of Bible that says ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’. “Every human being is different. There should be freedom of ideas to be freely expressed, respected and listened to. Every person in the organisation should be allowed to be who they are, express themselves freely without fear of judgment or hierarchy. Everyone should be aware, aligned and have an unwavering belief in the dream of the organisation,” Ramarathinam concluded with the inherent value system that makes Vuram Technology Solutions one of the best companies in the category.
