‘Many local youth involved in drug trade’

Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that local youth in the age group of 20 to 35 years are involved in drug trade and many of them have been also convicted.

Sawant also maintained that parents, education department and educational institutions should all look at this alarming scenario with due seriousness. He further said that if anyone is found with small quantity of drug – consumable quantity – then the police have to necessarily release this person in a day or two.

Earlier, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat pointed out that such Goan youth could be very well dropouts from schools and colleges. He also said that the youth are getting themselves involved in drug trade due to paltry sum of money amounting to Rs 1,000 or so.
