2020 Chrysler Voyager Pushes Dodge Grand Caravan Out Of Production In May 2020

With the reveal of the 2020 Chrysler Voyager last month, many industry analysts wondered if it also spells the end of the Dodge Grand Caravan.

That’s a logical assumption, given that both models cover the entry-level segment of the minivan market and the Voyager uses a much newer and modern platform.

The Grand Caravan will reach the end of the line indeed, at least according to forecasting company AutoForecast Solutions.

In its weekly report, the firm says production of the Dodge Grand Caravan at FCA’s Windsor, Ontario plant will end on May 22, 2020. After that, Fiat Chrysler will position the new Voyager as its replacement.

The company’s vice president of global vehicle forecasting, Sam Fiorani, says FCA originally planed to stop making the Grand Caravan in December 2019 but postponed the end of production to May as it needs time to promote the Voyager.

“For the 2020 model year, they’ll likely run to fleet and then get the consumers to buy the new Voyager,” Fiorani told Autonews Canada. Production of the 2020 Voyager is expected to kick off next month in Windsor alongside the higher-end Pacifica minivan and the Grand Caravan.

When it unveiled the Voyager in June, FCA said it would target budget-conscious families and fleet customers. That’s pretty much the same clientele of the Grand Caravan.

The 2020 Chrysler Voyager starts at $26,985 in the United States, excluding a $1,495 destination charge. The minivan will begin arriving at dealers this fall and will be available in two trim lines, L and LX. A third grade, LXi, will be reserved for fleet customers.
