- The driver claimed the recommended route is usually shorter and faster
An Uber driver has slammed pushy passengers who order him to ignore the recommended route at the last minute.
The driver, who wished not to be named, told Daily Mail Australia that customers often shoot themselves in the foot because their way is never faster or shorter.
He said on Monday he had picked up a female passenger from Sydney's west who ordered him to change direction.
The disgruntled driver said he had to apply brakes to make the last minute change.
'Had she told me upfront, I wouldn't have any problem,' the driver said.
'I had to apply brakes. Then I started asking her where she actually wanted to go.
'She was getting grumpy and we both were not happy in the end.'
Uber recommends that drivers ask passengers if they prefer any particular route.

The driver said since Uber introduced Fixed Price Fares in March 2018, passengers only pay the fare that had been quoted to them while booking the ride
The man, who has been driving with Uber for the past four years, took to a closed Facebook group to share his experience about the incident.
'Dear rider, I will follow my satnav (usually Google Maps) to your destination because it gives me the shortest, quickest route and my satnav can look ahead and see traffic delays and will reroute around them,' he wrote.
'Since Uber introduced Fixed Price Fares in March 2018 you only pay the fare that you were quoted before you requested this ride.
'You won't be charged any more, and I won't be paid any more, by me taking you via what you think is a longer route.
'Because my income is fixed by Uber, it's in my interest to get you to your destination via the shortest and quickest route. That's also in your interest.'
His post since prompted other Uber drivers to share their own personal stories.
'Sorry it’s incomplete please add it’s not your bathroom please don’t put your makeup on whilst I’m driving,' said one driver.
'No eating or drinking in the car it's not your dining room. Please leave the radio on my station I enjoy MY music.'
'And to the f'*** hipsters don't brush you dirty beard in my car while I m driving,' wrote another.
'Yet when you tell the rider we will go the way per nav, they get the shits and give you a 1 star rating,' a third driver commented.
Drivers are required to maintain certain ratings to drive with Uber.
