Next-Gen Mahindra Thar Spied Again With Hardtop And Front Facing Rear Seats

We all know, Mahindra  working on the next generation model of the popular offroad utility vehicle Thar. And the model was spied lot of times while testing. Now, the new generation Mahindra Thar was spied with hard top and front facing rear seats. The Thar will comes with front facing second row seats unlike the current model. But, its not confirmed if Mahindra will offer a similar setup in the soft top Thar as well.

Next-Gen Mahindra Thar looks bigger and wider than previous model. The rear seats of the new Thar features adjustable headrest and three point seat belts. The cabin layout of the new Thar has been redesigned. The central tunnel is now positioned much higher than the outgoing model. The new Thar borrows its steering wheel from the TUV300 and features controls for the music system. The new Thar will also feature power windows as the controls are visible on the central tunnel. This model also expect to get dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high speed alert system and driver and co-driver seat belt reminder to help it comply with new safety regulations. 

Under the hood, the new Mahindra Thar is likely to use an all-new 2.0-litre diesel engine that will reportedly pump out 140bhp. The same powertrain will also power the next-generation Scorpio and XUV500. The Thar is expected to get a new six-speed low-range gearbox with a 4x4 drive-train. It will come with a differential-lock and limited-slip functionalities. The next-gen Thar is likely to be introduced in India at 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
