Recent SA Tourism data reveals the ‘favorite visitors’

In spite of the reported resists and increased regional competition, South Africa has remained a striking destination for overseas visitors. Over 1.2 million foreign nationals came to SA in the last few years, and plenty of our fellow countrymen and women have been on the move too: more than 896 000 of us explored across our borders in the past year.

 

We’ve busted few main statistics down to understand who exactly is coming to visit South Africa and the recurring ones as well. Some of the numbers are no surprise, but others come as a genuine shock…

 

Tourism in South Africa: Most well-liked overseas visitors:

 

An evaluation of movements in the ten important over season countries between May 2018 and May 2019 illustrates that the tourist numbers have dropped for four of ten leading countries, France, Germany, The Netherlands and Brazil. But the picture was quite glowing somewhere else.

 

The UK, for instance, witnessed the major right of visitors to South Africa (up by 6.5%), followed closely by China with an increase of 6.3%. Also, the US experienced rise in their visitor numbers by more than 5%.

Who are coming to South Africa?

 

The number of tourists have risen in five of the ten leading countries in total (Botswana, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Angola), and dropped for the other five (Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Malawi and Mozambique) respectively. Botswana showed the highest increase (15.2%), while Zambia showed the largest decrease (15.8%).
