BENGALURU: A 34-year-old private company employee committed suicide after an unidentified man allegedly cheated him of Rs 50,000 on the pretext of getting him a loan of Rs 3 lakh.
P Christopher, a resident of TC Palya in KR Puram and helper in a private firm, is survived by his wife Anita Kumari and two children.
Christopher’s wife Anita Kumari filed a complaint against Bikas, who claimed to be the managing director of a microfinance company, of abetting the suicide.
“My husband had taken money from friends and relatives. Finding it difficult to repay the cash, he tried to get a bank loan. Bikas called my husband a few days ago and promised to get him Rs 3 lakh if he deposited Rs 50,000 towards processing fees. My husband arranged for Rs 50,000 and deposited it in the accused’s bank account. Bikas then went incommunicado. Saying he has been cheated, my husband hanged himself from the ceiling fan,” Anita wrote in her complaint.
