TO THE EDITOR:
Regarding "GM urges patience as Silverado now No. 3," June 17: So General Motors' idea is: "We have a good plan. We're adding capacity to our truck plant in Flint, Mich. Once we get that online, sales will pick up."
Hogwash. Sales were off 7 percent through May. The Silverado had a 99-day supply — more than Ram or Ford — sitting on the lots at the beginning of June.
It isn't a lack of product that's the problem. It is the leadership of CEO Mary Barra. The truck has a face only a mother could love. Nothing GM makes has style anymore. Herds of customers are fleeing to other brands, and they may not ever come back.
The Camaro —a classic style — is ugly and too small to live with. The Cruze was made ugly, then got killed off when sales tanked. Barra is closing plants everywhere and running customers off.
Get smart, GM board of directors: Fire Barra ASAP.
