An Instagram influencer has Redditors divided after she explained why she wouldn't post photos of herself with her boyfriend while the pair was on vacation.

The 22-year-old woman wrote on Reddit that she has a 'pretty successful Instagram account' with a following of 450,000, where she posts 'typical Insta-girl' photos of herself in swimwear and shills supplements in order to fund her lifestyle while she obtains her MBA.

But on a recent trip to Tulum, Mexico, her boyfriend got upset that she refused to posts snaps of them together, and would only share ones of herself alone — but she insists that that's her business and he's in the wrong.

The user, who goes by u/IGAZmodel, explained the success of her Instagram account: 'I make enough money to live off, have no debts, and [can] afford a nice vacation for my boyfriend and I. We have been here for two days.'

But while it was a trip for leisure, she still got some business in, sharing snaps of herself posing in the beach locale.

The young woman — who is also a yoga instructor and is believed to be based in America — said her partner was 'furious' with her over the no-picture deal.

'He is furious with me because I told him he can't be in the Instagram pictures because quite literally I don't get as many POS references to my companies when there's a guy in the pic,' she explained.

'It's just a fact. I need these pics from this vacation to be able to sell stuff. It's just the way my "job" works.

'We can take as many private pics as he likes, we can do pics of us hiking, having sex, laying by the pool, I don't care but I need to keep my IG separate.'

Support: Many users agreed that she was not in the wrong, as her account is purely for her profile as an influencer

'He's been so pi**y and taking alone time for the entire time we've been here,' she went on.

'We have barely slept together, no [intimacy] and just short, curt conversations. He won't tell me what's wrong but I mean I guess I know what's wrong. I'm really upset because I paid for this entire vacation only to be ignored and treated pretty cr**py,' she wrote.

The influencer then asked for other Redditors to weigh in and share what they thought of the drama.

Several told her she was completely in the right.

'Simple answer is,' wrote one commenter, 'you’re going to make more money when he is not in the photos with you. That should be enough of an explanation for him to understand the situation and the fact that he is getting angry about it is very worrying and is a bit of a red flag for me.'

Many people called for the woman to create a separate, private Instagram account in order to share photos of the pair with her family and friends.

'If anything, the boyfriend is bossing her around by telling her what content to put into her social accounts or he will emotionally manipulate her,' wrote one.

'You have no concept on the time she dedicates to this during this vacation or during her work time. You only know that she has made significant attempts on creating as much of a vacation like atmosphere as possible by engaging with the boyfriend.'

Another user added, 'People can joke about "Instagram models" all they want but if you make money out of it, it's a legit job. You're advertising products. It's comparable to you modeling for a magazine ad. And him wanting to be in the Instagram pictures is just as ridiculous as if he'd want to model with you in a professional photoshoot.'

Another commenter joked that the boyfriend getting angry about not being allowed in the photos was like 'Matt Damon's wife being upset she couldn't star in his latest blockbuster.'

In the thread, the influencer clarified that she had been in a long-term relationship that ended a year ago — and learned then that pictures with a boyfriend don't work.

'I featured him in a lot of pics, the difference in revenue post break up is crazy. And most of the people who click through and buy are women so they are more likely to buy from the companies I represent if I give the appearance of being single,' she revealed.

Meanwhile, some users sympathized with how invisible the boyfriend must have felt on the trip. However, they did not believe she was necessarily in the wrong as she needed the solo images for her work account.

'He just wants to let all her thirsty fans know she's taken and doesn't care if it affects her career,' one comment read.

'This lady is a 'influencer' and to cut straight to the chase they tend to be extremely attractive, they are also on holiday so bikinis etc will be in these pictures,' wrote another.

'The [dude's] jealous because a bunch of creepers will without a doubt be commenting things that will make him uncomfortable. I’d imagine he’d want to be in these pictures just to show she’s not single or whatever because there’s no doubt her relationship status isn’t mentioned.'

Ultimately, the influencer and her boyfriend couldn't make it work.

Referencing the new season of Stranger Things, she wrote: 'In the words of El: “I dump your a**!” He can figure out his own lodging and way back.'

Later, she added: 'I mean I broke up with him because he called me a b***h and started acting violent by slamming doors.'
