CBI conducts raids at ponzi firm premises

KOLKATA: The CBI on Monday conducted searches in connection to the probe into the Chakra group ponzi firm. The searches were conducted at 11 places including premises at North 24 Parganas in West Bengal, Patna (Bihar), Agartala (Tripura) and New Delhi.
Searches were also conducted at the office and the residential premises of the accused in the case. “Several incriminating documents have been recovered during the searches,” said a CBI official.

The CBI had registered a case against the company proprietor Partha Chakraborty and the Chakra Infrastructure Ltd.
It was alleged that the accused persons had collected around Rs 87 crore as deposit from the public on assurance to repay the amounts with high rate of interest. Later they closed down offices without repaying the investors.
