SHAHAPUR: A 48-year-old man who ran a hotel in Dubai was killed by unidentified robbers in the
Thane district. The deceased, Suresh Nunanje, a resident of Mulund. was found dead in his second home at Shelavali village in
Shahapur taluka.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when Nunanje's maid found his body with injury marks. His hands and legs had been tied up. She informed the locals who called the police.
The police found the window grill broken and items scattered inside the house.
The police said that Nunanje had come to his Shahapur bungalow on Friday with his wife and son, and after dropping them back to Mulund on the same day, had come back to the bungalow.
The police suspect that robbers entered the house late at night by cutting the grill, and killed Nunanje when he tried to protest the robbery.
The Shahapur police have registered a case under IPC sections 302 and 460. The Thane Rural police, along with the crime branch, have formed several teams to catch the accused.
"We are working on several leads and hope to crack the case very soon," said Vyankat Andhale, senior police inspector of the Thane Rural crime branch.
