MUZAFFARPUR: Baba Garibnath temple will be developed as one of the biggest religious and
tourist spot of the state and a move has been initiated for the same. This was announced by the minister for art, culture and youth affairs Pramod Kumar here on Sunday at the inauguration of the month-long Shravani Mela on DN High School campus.
"
Bihar has many religious spots for followers of every religion. We have identified over 100 such places which will be developed as a tourist spot also. Garib Nath is one among them," the minister said.
He added that a detail plan had been charted out with the cooperation of the other departments of the state government. "We are also getting full support from the Union government to boost the tourism sector. This will not only help to create employment opportunities but will also help to earn revenue as states like Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Kerala are doing," the minister added.
Addressing the devotees who had gathered at the makeshift shelter, Kumar said the state government will soon develop the kanwariya route between Pahleja in Saran district to
Muzaffarpur via Vaishaili as that of Babadham.
"If the district administrations of Vaishali and Muzaffarpur are ready to provide lands for erecting some permanent structures, we have adequate funds to set up hotels, guest houses with all facilities for the devotees and benches on the kanwariya route along the national highway," the minister added.
Speaking on the occasion, minister for urban development and housing Suresh Kumar Sharma said the development programme of the shrine has been taken up under the smart city project.
Sharma told that tent cities have been put up at RDS College for the devotees. "We are hoping that this year over 20 lakh pilgrims will pay obeisance to Lord Shiva at the shrine," said the minister.
District magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh said that keeping the safety of devotees in view, some changes has been made in the shrine route. "They will now pass through Zila School route to reach the the Garibnath temple instead of Harisabha-Chhoti Kalyani route," he said.
