State-level shooter beaten up in UP, video goes viral

MEERUT: As many as six youngsters thrashed a Baghpat-based state level shooter over a minor tiff on July 12 at Baraut. The matter came to the fore after a video of the incident surfaced on Internet and was widely circulated on Sunday. An FIR has been filed in the matter and efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
Ramananda Khushwaha, circle officer, Baraut, said, “A video has come to our notice wherein a Baghpat-based shooter is being thrashed by six youngsters over a minor matter. We have received the police complaint from the boy’s parents and have filed an FIR in the matter.”
While two people in the FIR are named, others are unnamed. Police said they are making efforts to arrest the accused who are at large and also identify the others.
“We even called the father of one of the accused to the station to interrogate them,” said Khushwaha.
The shooter’s family had complained that he was picked up by the accused and taken to Jat Inter College in Baraut, where he was thrashed. The video, in TOI’s possession, shows some boys thrashing him and one of them even picking up a brick to hit him.
