Pune: 40-year-old man arrested for bludgeoning wife to death

PUNE: A 40-year-old man assaulted his wife with an iron rod following a domestic dispute between them, late on Friday night at their residence in Vishrantwadi. The woman succumbed to her injuries late on Saturday night at Sassoon General Hospital.
On Sunday, the Vishrantwadi police arrested 35-year-old Ramabai Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad’s husband, Dnyaneshwar on murder charges.
According to police, Dnyaneshwar is unemployed and Ramabai used to work as domestic help. Collectively, they did not earn enough money to run a household with two children.

She used to urge him to work to earn a living as they have a seven-year-old son who is enrolled in a school and a two-year-old daughter. Due to his unemployment, the family was going through a financial crisis. The two used to fight regularly in the last few days, police said.
On Friday night, during an argument, in a fit of rage, Dnyaneshwar picked up an iron rod and assaulted Ramabai with it due to which she sustained head injuries. The neighbours heard her screams and rushed to their residence. Following the altercation, the neighbours took Ramabai to Sassoon General Hospital.
