Sea erosion: 603 persons shifted to relief camps in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The district administration has shifted 603 members from 143 families to the relief centres set up in the schools across the district due to the wreaked havoc by the heavy sea erosion. Six relief camps have been opened as sea has been rough in the coastal areas of the district for the past one week.

As the coastal erosion has been reported in Thiruvananthapuram and Chirayinkeezhu taluks, at Valiyathura, 58 members from 16 families have been shifted to the relief camps.
District collector K Gopalakrishnan said that the food and other essential commodities were being ensured for the people in the relief camps. The health department has been directed to provide medical care in camps.
