At least 20 juveniles have allegedly attacked fellow inmates and staff with keys and chainsaws after escaping their cells and rioting at a NSW detention centre.
Emergency services were called to the Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre at Kariong on the Central Coast at around 8.40pm on Sunday with reports inmates had escaped their cells.
NSW Ambulance confirmed to Daily Mail Australia they're currently tending to at least six people with various injuries, with unconfirmed reports others suffered fractured bones.
Emergency workers were told to lock themselves in their cars as balaclava-wearing youths stood on the roofs of the centre with shovels, hurling abuse at them.

It's reported that the detainees have attacked staff with keys, chainsaws and other work-shed tools as they fled their cells
Police were forced to deploy gas to help restore order again.
More than 16 ambulances, fire fighters, police and a Westpac rescue helicopter surrounded the perimeter around the centre.
Police have since confirmed the incident and stated it's currently an 'ongoing situation,' the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
