Humiliated by sister’s ‘rapist’, youth ends life

Ludhiana: Facing humiliation from a man whose brother allegedly raped his minor sister a few months ago, a 22-year-old youth committed suicide on Saturday morning.
A few months ago, the youth’s sister was kidnapped and raped by brother of one the accused who is currently lodged in jail. Youth’s family members alleged that the accused and his relatives were humiliating him and have also been pressurising him to take back the complaint. The accused were also threatening to spread bad words about his sister which forced him to end his life, the family members claimed.
“In the suicide note, the youth mentioned that the accused, whose brother kidnapped and raped his minor sister, had been humiliating him. The key accused along with his relatives was pressurising him to get the complaint back. He was found hanging with the ceiling fan in his house on Saturday,” said inspector Harjinder Singh.
The police on the basis of suicide note and the statement of youth’s family, the police have registered a case against both the accused under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC. The accused are yet to be arrested.
