'You’re incredible, Hima Das': President Kovind, PM Modi join nation in hailing 5-star golden girl

Hima Das has won five gold medals in a span of less than three weeks.

Indian speedster Hima Das has caught the attention of everyone with her gold-winning spree this month. She has won five gold medals in a span of less than three weeks. 

Hima’s latest gold came on Saturday at the Nove Mesto Athletics Meet in Prague. She clocked a timing of 52.09 seconds to complete the 400m race, registering her season-best timing. 

Earlier, she won gold in 200m in Tabor Athletic Meet on Wednesday. Prior to Tabor Athletic Meet, she won three gold medals at different events including Klado Athletic Meet, Kunto Athletics Meet, and Poznan Athletics Grand Prix.

Even the President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi have praised her for the incredible achievement.

PM Modi also hailed the Hima on her remarkable feat, “India is very proud of @HimaDas8’s phenomenal achievements over the last few days. Everyone is absolutely delighted that she has brought home five medals in various tournaments. Congratulations to her and best wishes for her future endeavours”.

She also earned praise from Sachin Tendulkar. 

"Loving the way you have been running in the European circuit over the last 19 days. Your hunger to win and perseverance is an inspiration for the youth. Congrats on your 5 Medals! All the best for the future races, @HimaDas8. (sic.)” Tendulkar tweeted.

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also Sunday lauded Indian athletes for their performance in the Nove Mesto Athletics Meet at the Czech Republic.

"I'm so excited about India's performance in Athletics. Our Golden girl @HimaDas8 ran phenomenally at #NoveMestoAthleticsMeet. #MPJabir also won gold in men's 400m and @muhammedanasyah won bronze in men's 200m. @HimaDas8 will run her next race on 28th July again. My best wishes," Rijiju tweeted.

MP Jabir also won a gold in the 400-metre hurdles race, clocking 49.66 seconds. Mohammad Anas settled with a bronze medal as he finished in third place with a timing of 20.95 seconds in 200m.
