YAMUNANAGAR: The
Yamunanagar women police on Sunday booked a 50-year-old man, a migrant from
Bihar who has been living in Yamunanagar for around 15 years, for attempting to rape a 6-year-old girl at his residence.
As per the information, on Sunday, two sisters who are 4.5 and 6-year-old were playing in the street when the accused, living in their neighbourhood, lured them to his house in the same colony. The accused attempted to sexually assault the elder sister while he gave something to eat to the younger one.
The girl was rescued by a neighbour when she cried for help and the accused was handed over to the police.
On the complaint of the girl’s family members, who are also migrants from other state, the Yamunanagar police have registered a case against the accused under Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 18 (punishment for attempt to commit an offence), and 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (
POCSO) Act at Yamunanagar women police station.
"The accused is a migrant from Bihar and he has been living alone here for around 15 years. On Sunday, he lured two sisters living in his neighbourhood and took them to his house. The accused gave something to eat to the younger girl while he attempted to sexually assault her elder sister. The girl shouted for help and a neighbour heard her cries and entered the house to rescue the girls. The rescuer witnessed that the accused was attempting to sexually assault the girl and he raised an alarm and caught hold of the accused red-handed and took him to the police station," said Yamunanagar women police station SHO

“We have arrested the accused and registered a case under relevant Sections of the POCSO Act and he will be presented before the court on Monday," said Seema Singh.
