MCC’s undercover agents will get to the source of plastic menace in city

Mysuru: With an aim of curbing plastic menace in the city, the Mysuru City Corporation is gearing up to send undercover officials to get to the source of the illegal delivery mechanism of banned plastic products.
Undercover officials, mostly deputed from the health department, will visit plastic carry bag merchants and other places for on spot assessment and get back to their seniors with a detailed report.
After spying, the officials will devise a strategy and conduct raids for effective measures to curb the usage of plastic carry bags and other items which are banned by the state government.
As plastic carry bags are easily available in shops, despite ban, authorities have decided to catch the kingpins who supply plastic to the shops by carrying out secret investigations.

MCC health officer M S Jayanth told TOI that they have decided to catch the kingpins in the illegal business who supply plastic to these shops in the city. “We are discussing the issue with the environment engineers. We want this illegal business to stop completely. The shops in the city are tertiary points. We are planning to get to the source and punish the culprits,” he said.
“Our staff will collect details of the people and the spots from where plastic is distributed. Only after we get enough evidence, we will conduct the raids,” he added.
