Tirupur: Palladam sub-registrar Balamuruga Prabhakar and his subordinates are likely to face departmental inquiry after directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) sleuths seized Rs 7lakh from the registration office on Friday evening.
DVAC sleuths had caught a man when he was about to hand over Rs 7lakh at the office. According to DVAC sources, the money was collected from people, who came there for registration. A corrupt network was active in the government office, they said.
DVAC conducted inquiry with sub-registrar Balamuruga Prabhakar and others on Friday and Saturday. “We are yet to find out the details of those involved in the corruption. We hope to register a case and arrest the perpetrators soon. We also conducted a raid in sub-registrar office,” a DVAC officer said.
DVAC had conducted a raid at the Palladam Sub-registrar Office last year.
