In a case reported under Kurangani police station limits near Bodi, the police have arrested S. Sakthivel, 40, of Mudhuvakudi village for allegedly firing at his neighbour S. Pounraj, 60, with a country-made rifle.
The two, living on the same street, were not in good terms. On Friday, Sakthivel had drawn water through a hose pipe from the water tank in Pounraj’s house.
A wordy altercation ensued between the two and in a fit of rage, Sakthivel had allegedly shot Pounraj with a country-made rifle, injuring him on the right shoulder. He was admitted to Bodi Government Hospital.
The Kurangani police have registered a case under Section 307 of the IPC and Sections 20 (5), 25 (1) (a) of the Arms and Ammunition Act. Sakthivel was arrested, remanded in judicial custody and lodged in Theni Central Prison.
