Crackdown on illegal building after social media complaints

Noida: The Noida Authority has stopped the construction of an illegal building in Barola village of Noida and filed a complaint with the police. The moves came in the wake of local residents taking to social media to highlight the unauthorised construction.
Officials said there are other illegal structures in the area too, regarding which a report will be submitted to the CEO on Monday. “I need to review the situation and the current status of the buildings. Once we have the details, we can decide whether these structures should be demolished or not,” said Ritu Maheshwari, CEO, Noida Authority.

The Authority has made at least three attempts to demolish illegal structures in Barola and a marble market that has come up on a green belt opposite Sector 48. But, locals have been protesting quoting an NGT order to review the case.
“We’re preparing a report to discuss the issue with CEO. There are several illegal structures in and around Barola in work circle 3. We’re checking and surveying all such buildings,” said MP Singh, OSD, Noida Authority.
