Nagpur: A 17-year-old boy allegedly raped a minor in Chitnavispura on July 18 after threatening to commit suicide if the survivor did not comply with his advances. The police registered a case of rape against the juvenile under sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act.
According to police, the victim and Rama (name changed) are both students of ITI. Rama got in touch with the victim in 2018 and allegedly called her to study at his home. The duo used to study at each other’s houses.
On July 18, Rama went to the victim’s college in Bajaj Nagar and forcefully took her to his home in Chitnavispura.
The duo sat for a long time and then the victim decided to return home as it was late in the night. Rama then threatened to commit suicide by drinking poison if she did not stay, after which he allegedly raped her.
On the next day, the victim went home and her family members asked her where she was for the entire night, following which the survivor narrated her ordeal. Her family members then filed a complaint at Bajaj Nagar police station.
The cops have rounded up Rama in the case.
