MC staff told to keep city rain-ready

Ludhiana: For avoiding any untoward incident during the rainy season, MC commissioner KP Brar has asked civic officials to ensure there were no open manholes in any part of the city. In the coming days, there are chances of heavy rainfall, and to deal with the situation, officials are asked not to leave the city without informing seniors. There will be strict action against those officers not performing their duty properly.
Officials are asked to keep sandbags ready to place them on the weak banks of Buddha Nullah for avoiding breaches in the drain. They were also instructed to get the inner seasonal drains in Talab Bazaar, Damoria Bridge, New Madhopuri, and adjoining areas cleaned at regular intervals, because rainwater drains out through these drains. Apart from cleaning the road gulleys properly to avoid water-logging, they were also told to keep machines ready to pump out water from flooded areas.
