AGRA: On Saturday, inspector general of Agra range, A Satish Ganesh, disguised himself as an Army Colonel to assess the work culture at a police station in Mathura; later, satisfied with the response, he awarded Rs 5,000 in cash to the station house officer.
The surprise check was conducted at Highway police station, where IG impersonated himself as Colonel Satish Kumar and met SHO Ram Pal Singh Bhatti with a complaint that his laptop, documents and cash were stolen.

"I gave a written complaint about the fictitious theft to the SHO. Since, he had no clue about my true identity, I sat at police station for an hour and observed as how the officer handled other complainants. After my FIR copy was handed over to me, I disclosed my identity to the SHO," said the IG Agra range.
"Satisfied with the work culture at Highway police station and its in-charge officer, I rewarded Rs 5000 in cash," added the 1996 batch IPS officer who is well known for weeding out corrupt and lenient cops while he was Lucknow range IG in 2016.
