Bandung is not Paris but when it comes to fashion, the capital of West Java, has plenty to offer. From a leather craft centre to an old market, which dates back to early 19th century, Bandung is a great shopping destination. Whether you’re a shopaholic or not, the city called Paris van Java has an array of shopping spots that will lure you. Bandung’s fashion markets are known for its good quality, local design, and affordable price. 

PASAR BARU TRADE CENTRE
Pasar Baru or New Market is actually one of Bandung’s oldest markets. Founded in 1884, it is now known as the best place to shop for local clothes. You’ll find various kinds of textile, clothing, bags, prayer mats and so on. Just like any other traditional market, haggling with the shopkeepers is welcome here.

CIBADUYUT
Cibaduyut is one of Bandung’s most popular fashion spots that won’t disappoint you. It is also known as the centre for leather shoes, not just in West Java but in Indonesia as well. Most products in Cibaduyut are handcrafted and locally made with good quality and durability. Don’t forget to bargain if you want to get a fair price.

If you can’t find the shoes or the size you like, you can ask for one-of-a-kind custom made leather shoes to suit your taste. The custom made shoes are usually made in a week or two. You can have it delivered to your address. Even President of Indonesia Joko Widodo shops here!

GANG TAMIM
Looking for good quality jeans at an affordable price? Gang Tamim is your destination. The street is known as Bandung’s denim centre since the 1990s and you’ll find various types of denims, starting from about Rp 100,000 (around US$7). What’s more, you can also find batik clothes and fabric here. You can also choose your own fabric and have your custom made denims designed in three to seven days. It’s worth your visit any time you are in Bandung.

CIHAMPELAS
Cihampelas is an area where you can find many unique shops selling affordable locally made clothes. Various kinds of apparels like jackets, jeans, t-shirts and costumes are available here. You can purchase ‘I Love Bandung’ t-shirts and replicas of local football club Persib jerseys. However, you have to be careful since not all cheap clothes are of good quality. Cihampelas Walk Mall is also in the area, but the modern mall is not what you would call a budget shopping destination.

SENTRA RAJUT
Sentra Rajut is a home to good quality knitwear. You’ll find cardigans, scarves, jackets, and many other items at an affordable price. Prices start at Rp 50,000 (less than US$ 4) and even lower. The knitwear is crafted with a high level of detail and quality by local small businesses. With careful treatment, the knitwear is comfortable and durable.
