The defection of 23 MLAs from the YSR Congress Party to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the previous Assembly came up for a very brief discussion in the Assembly on Friday.
YSRCP MLA from Giddalur Anna Rambabu raised the issue during Zero Hour. Stating that he served a notice for a discussion on the defections, he urged Speaker Tammineni Sitaram to ensure that the discussion be allowed during the ongoing session. The other members from ruling YSRCP supported him.
Responding to it, the Speaker said he would examine the notice. “It is a debatable subject in the country. We will take the initiative. The notice will be examined,” he said.
