UP: 9 killed, 4 injured in group clash in Sonbhadra

At least 9 persons were killed and 4 injured in an incident of firing between two groups in Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh.

ADG law and order of state PV Rama Shastri told that incident occurred in the remote area in Uffa village under Ghorawal police station yesterday, where two groups of villagers attacked each other with firearms over possession of land. 9 villagers including 3 ladies died in this incident.

Two persons have been arrested in this case so far. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed Commissioner Mirzapur and ADG Zone Varanasi to jointly investigate the incident on the causes and fix responsibility for the lapses in 24 hours and asked DGP to personally monitor the case.

He has also announced Rs 5 lakhs compensation to the victims and sought report from Collector Sonbhadra why pattas were not given to the residents of the village.
