Praveesh Shoranur wins State award for best photography

Award comprises ₹50,000, memento, certificate

Praveesh Shoranur from the district has won the State award for Best Photography of 2018. The photograph of an aged couple standing in front of their decrepit thatched hut won him the award sponsored by the Information and Public Relations Department.

Mr. Praveesh received the award from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram a few days ago.

The award comprises a cash prize of ₹50,000, a memento, and a certificate.

A jury comprising filmmaker Shaji N. Karun, senior photographers Suresh Elamon, G. Binulal, and V. Vinod chose Mr. Praveesh for the first prize.

Manoop Chandran from Kunnamkulam and Rakesh Puthoor from Karivalloor bagged the second and third prize respectively.

Ten other photographers were given consolation prizes. Senior photographer P. David, who worked with several filmmakers in Malayalam, was given an award for overall contributions to the world of photography.
