Anantapur district has 7,25,831 cubic metres of sand stock and has established 10 sand reaches in the district for extraction and sale with the help of Andhra Pradesh Mining Development Corporation.
Collector S. Satyanarayana gave this information to the participants in a video conference conducted by Panchayat Raj Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy. Through the open reaches, the district had collected 2,65,700 cubic metres of sand, and collected 3,22,931 cubic metres of sand from private patta lands. The remaining 1,37,200 cubic metres of sand was collected from other places. This sand would be sold at the rate of ₹2,500 per tractor to the public.
Stock points were created at divisional-level and extraction points for proper transport and sale of sand so extracted and this would be done under the supervision of Collector and the Joint Collector. The APMDC would be the executing agency, the Collector said.
