“The Redmi K20 Pro is now available for purchase in India and it is certainly a flagship killer”
Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi K20 series in India. The phones will be available for purchase via Mi.com and Flipkart exclusively. The company has been aggressively teasing the launch of Redmi K20 series in India, especially the Pro model, which has been tagged the Flagship Killer 2.0. The Redmi K20 Pro has high-end specifications, great design, and will not break your bank. Here are the top features of the new smartphone, which will take on the OnePlus 7.
Redmi K20 Pro best features
Full-screen display
The Redmi K20 Pro comes with a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is a Samsung panel and also features hardware DC dimming. The phone doesn’t have any notch and has thin bezels all around. The panel supports HDR content and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is a small chin at the bottom of the display, which gives the smartphone a 91.6 percent screen-to-body ratio.
Snapdragon 855 chipset
Despite being priced as a mid-range smartphone, the Redmi K20 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 processor. The chipset is coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Xiaomi claims that it developed a three-layer cooling system for the processor, which has increased the heat dissipation capacity by up to 650 percent. This results in a cooler running processor, which means that you can game for longer. It also features Game Turbo 2.0 that can improve gaming performance. Overall, the Redmi K20 Pro is a powerful smartphone that’s in the same league as the Samsung Galaxy S10, OnePlus 7 Pro, and others.
In-display fingerprint scanner
The Redmi K20 Pro also features an in-display fingerprint scanner for easy and fast unlocking. The phone uses a 7th generation optical fingerprint scanner that is secure enough to be used for making payments online. A front facing fingerprint scanner is definitely more easier to use than a rear mounted scanner.
Pop-up front camera
Xiaomi has included the pop-up camera mechanism on the Redmi K20 Pro. This is one of those features that’s usually only found in smartphones that cost a lot more. The front 20-megapixel f/2.2 camera is housed inside the frame of the phone thanks to a motorised pop-up mechanism. The motor has been tested for 300,000 movements, so it shouldn’t easily break or stop working due to a fall.
Triple rear cameras
Redmi K20 Pro also comes with a triple camera setup at the back, similar to most high-end flagship smartphones. The camera sensors are placed vertically and at the centre of the phone. The main 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor is placed separately from the other two sensors. It has an aperture of f/1.75, but lacks optical image stabilisation. The second sensor is an 8-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto unit that provides up to 2x optical zoom and 10 times digital zoom. Finally, there’s a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with a 124 degree field of view. The main camera can shoot 4K videos at 60fps and super slow motion 960fps videos in 1080p resolution.
4,000mAh battery with 27W fast-charging
Battery life is a very important factor in flagship devices and customers love a device with a large battery. The Redmi K20 Pro comes with a 4,000mAh battery that should easily provide a days use. On top of that, the phone supports 27W fast-charging, which should help it power up quickly when on low charge.
These are some of the top features of the Redmi K20 Pro. Apart from those, the phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a bonus. It also comes with Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD support, dual-band GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and runs Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. The Redmi K20 Pro prices in India are Rs 27,999 and Rs 30,999 for the 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants, respectively. At these prices the handset is complete value for money and will definitely disrupt the Indian smartphone market, similar to the POCO F1.
