In order to enhance communication skills of youth of the state and to increase job opportunities, an MoU has been signed between the Education department and Cambridge Assessment English, Cambridge University UK. The Commissioner Higher Education Raghvendra Singh and Deputy Director of Global Network of Cambridge Assessment English Liam Wint signed the MoU in the office of the Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission in the presence of the Higher Education Minister Jeetu Patwari.
Moreover, MoUs have also been signed between 23 private universities of the state and Cambridge Assessment English. Patwari also planted a sapling in the campus of the Commission. Minister Patwari said that development of communication skill is utmost important as per the requirement of present era. The English language will prove helpful in developing skills and increasing job opportunities. Teachers and students of the universities will be trained under the MoU signed with the Cambridge University for a period of 2 years.
About 200 teachers and 2 thousand students of 11 districts will be trained under the pilot project. Universities would be competent to conduct various kind of examinations and to give valid Business English Certificate (BEC) of international standard. All the examinations and qualifications are connected to Common European Framework of Reference, which is a global standard of language assessment. This would help students in getting more job opportunities in private sector, multinational companies and at international level.
The Deputy Director of Global Network of Cambridge Assessment English Liam Wint expressed happiness on innovations being carried out by universities of the state to implement international standards of English. English language skill is important for developing job qualifications of graduate students. It is important that students should be capable of communicating in English in an effective manner at international level and could write and speak English with self confidence.
He informed that examination for over 5 million people of over 130 countries is conducted by the Cambridge Assessment English every year. On this occasion, the Chairman of M.P. Private University Regulatory Commission Dr. M.S. Parihar, Regional Head of South Asia Pacific of Cambridge Assessment English T.K. Arunachalam, Vice Chancellors and Registrars of Private Universities were present.
