MANGALURU: The Sixth Additional District and Sessions judge Sayeedunnisa sentenced

Cyanide Mohan, aged about 55-year-old and a former government school teacher to life imprisonment in connection with the brutal murder of a victim from
Paivalike in Kasargod. With this, Mohan has been sentenced in 10 cases, of about 20 similar cases.
Public Prosecutor Judith O M Crasta said Mohan has been sentenced to life imprisonment under IPC section 302 (murder), Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) of 10 years for IPC section 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison), five years RI for IPC section 392 (Robbery), 10 years RI under IPC section 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), one year simple imprisonment for IPC section 417 (cheating) and seven years imprisonment under IPC section 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence).
The sentence will run concurrently and Mohan has been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 25,000. Default of payment would lead to additional jail term. The seized gold belonging to the deceased will be handed to the victim’s mother in addition to compensation by the District Legal Services Authority, said Judith.
