Karnataka floor test LIVE: Proceedings to resume at 3 pm

New Delhi, July 18: Karnataka's ruling Congress-Janata Dal Secular coalition, is on shaky ground after a series of resignations. The proceeding has begun in assembly to ensure the survival of the 13-month-old government in the number game. HD Kumaraswamy moved the trust motion in the assembly today even as he launched a scathing attack on the rebel Congress-JDS MLAs and the BJP for the political crisis in the state.

As of now, 18 MLAs have abstained from voting. Apart from the 15 rebel MLAs , 2 Congress MLAs and 1 BSP MLA are also missing from the assembly session.

With this, the strength of the House has now come down to 207. The House has 225 members including the Speaker, who will vote one case of a tie. This means in the 224 members house, the strength is currently 206 and the magic number is now 103. The Congress and JD(S) currently have 100 and the BJP 107 with the support of the two independent MLAs.
