ALLAHABAD: A 9-year-old abducted boy was rescued from the forests of
Atraiji in
Koraon, ending a three-day chase between the police and the six accused who were arrested on Thursday.
Police seized a country-made pistol of 0.315 bore, two live cartridges, five
crude bombs and the car which was used for abduction.
The accused were identified as
Rozadeen alias Pappu,
Abid Ali, Eashan Ali, Mohammed Hasan, Vivek and Naseem—all residents of Koraon.
According to police, the abducted boy Moharram was Rozadeen alias Pappu’s brother-in-law.
SP (trans-Yamuna) DN Chaudhary said, “Rozadeen abducted Moharram to settle scores with the boy’s father and his father-in-law Ziyarat Ali. The two had a falling out due to an old dispute. The accused wanted to kill him by taking him to the forest.” He said Rozadeen was a resident of Rangnath Mahuli village.
Police said the accused abducted Moharram on July 15 while he was returning from school. “Two of Rozadeen’s aides Abid Ali and Eahshan lured the class III student by offering him jalebi and convinced him to get into a car with them. They took him to the forest area,” the SP said.
Later, police received a tip off about the whereabouts of the accused and formed two teams to rescue Moharram.
Policed reached the forest area and arrested the six after an encounter. A case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code was lodged against the arrested men.
