Plans a massive demonstration on August 10 with over one lakh people

Congress MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy, on Wednesday, threatened to intensify his agitation on August 10, if Godavari water was not supplied to the district headquarters’ town.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Jayaprakash Reddy said that the entire constituency was reeling under water shortage and the State government was not responding despite repeated appeals.

“People are suffering daily and there is no rain respite even in the middle of July. If Godavari water is being pumped to Patancheru, it will not be a herculean task for the authorities to extend the supply to Sangareddy,” the Congress MLA said, adding that it was the only alternative.

When asked about the feasibility of supplying water, he questioned, “When Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that he would supply Godavari water from Kaleshwaram via Mallannasagar to Mahabubnagar and then to Singur for 300 kilometres, why can’t the authorities supply water from Patancheru, which is only 25 kilometres from here?

He said that if the State government did not respond by July-end, he would launch a massive agitation on August 10 with over one lakh people.
