Months after some boys vandalised ancient pillars at the world heritage site in Hampi, another such incident of vandalism has come forth from Koppal in Karnataka.

Some unidentified persons on Thursday vandalised the site of Nava Brindavana (also known as temples of spiritual gurus) in Anegundi village of Gangavathi district.

According to the reports, the incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday. Police were informed as soon as the incident came to light. An investigation in the case has been initiated.

The Nava Brindavana site has samadhis of nine saints of the Madhwa community.

Security has been beefed up in Anegundi to prevent any untoward incident in the area following the vandalism incident.

In February this year, a video showing some youths vandalising the ancient pillars at the world heritage site in Hampi had gone viral on the social media, following which, police said they have sped up the probe into the case.

In the video, one can see the youth pushing the pillars and overturning them. The pillar, part of a valuable ancient structure, tilts and falls before breaking into pieces.

The site in Hampi has been declared a World Heritage by the Unesco.
