After introducing the One UI interface back in 2018, Samsung unveiled the refreshed OneUI 1.1 along with the Galaxy S10 series earlier this year. Now, according to SamMobile, the South Korean giant started development of the One UI version 2, and it would be rolled out to all eligible Samsung smartphones with Android Q later this year. The One UI 2.0 should be rolled out to Samsung flagships first and will be made available to selected few mid-range and budget phones eventually. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S11 series is said to come with One UI 2.1 right out of the box.
While it isn’t clear what new features would be included in the second iteration of One UI, it might embrace Digital Wellbeing improvements and Focus Mode that minimises notifications, alerts, and other interruptions from certain apps when enabled. It could also include Android Q core features like Live captions and adaptive notifications, but these could be limited to flagships only. It’s likely that Samsung One UI 2.0 might also bring enhancements to Bixby, Bixby Routines, and UI design changes.
The Galaxy Note 10 is unlikely to come with One UI 2.0 since it is still in the development and Android Q final build isn’t rolled out yet. But the flagship will most definitely get the Android Q update in the coming months. Unfortunately, all this is speculation at this stage, but since Samsung has already started One UI 2.0 development, we should learn more information in the coming months.
