AHMEDABAD: An 18-year-old girl died after she was run over by a giant truck at Ghevar Circle in Shahibaug on Tuesday morning. She was riding her scooter. The deceased has been identified as Hetanshi Patel, a resident of Kamalkunj Society, and a class 11 student.
The truck driver, Vajim Mohammed Ansari, 21, a native of Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, rammed into her vehicle from behind. “The truck crushed Hetanshi’s head and her pillion driver, her friend, was also injured,” said a police officer of F traffic police with which the FIR has been registered.
According to the FIR filed by the deceased girl’s father, Chetan Patel, who runs a plastic granules manufacturing firm, Hetanshi had left for a tuition class at around 7.30am. At around 7.45am, he received a call from someone who told him that his daughter had been hit by a truck and was lying unconscious.

Patel along with his neighbours reached the spot where the body was still lying. Onlookers told cops that she was hit by the truck and then its rear wheels ran over her. Police have arrested the truck driver and have booked him under IPC section 304-A (death by rash or negligent driving).
Cops said that the driver was headed towards Civil hospital complex to park his truck which was used for dumping construction material.
