KOLKATA: A 26-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly clicking photographs of a 20-year-old student secretly on a Karunamoyee-New Garia route bus on Wednesday. The girl’s presence of mind and the help provided to her by three sergeants from the Kasba traffic guard led to the arrest of Ranjit Chakroborty, a resident of Bosepukur Road.
The incident happened around 3.30pm near the Ruby crossing.
The victim lodged a written complaint with the Kasba police station against the accused. According to the police, the student, seated next to Chakroborty in the bus, was returning home in the Ajoynagar area.
“The accused claimed he was clicking a selfie but in every photograph, she was seen seated next to him. She raised an alarm as the bus approached Ruby. On duty sergeants from Kasba traffic guard, M Mondol and D Majhi and the constable Palash Biswas boarded the bus,” said an investigating officer.
Cops found the accused had shared the victim’s
photo over WhatsApp.
