Kunhakka, a mother- in law took the lead to get her widowed daughter-in-law get married again.
Kunhakka lost her son, Madhav, in an accident about three years ago took the lead to get her daughter-in-law Susheela married again. At the time of unfortunate event, Susheela was pregnant. Since then, Kunhakka was trying hard to convince Susheela to marry again.
Susheela who has been refusing to marry again all this while, decided to marry
Jayaprakash G from Kanyana in Bantwal after meeting him. Jayaprakash who lives in Puttur has been getting several marriage proposals and was looking for a suitable bride. In the past, he came forward to marry a lady from
Madikeri whose husband deserted her and was also keen on marrying a lady with physical disability. He told TOI, "None of those proposals worked out. Exactly a month ago, I met Susheela. Her son is 3.5 years old and I decided to take up their responsibility. On the other hand, Susheela too had rejected several proposals. She is very close to her mother-in-law and the three of them were living together," he said.
The wedding was held at
Kota Subrahmanya Swamy temple about seven kilometres from Bellare on Monday. Susheela was to be married to Madhav about four years ago at the same temple. "She was keen on a simple wedding ceremony. I made all necessary arrangements and was surprised when the temple priests and the administration appreciated my move to marry Susheela. We have even got our marriage registered, so that she feels secure. The marriage was held in the presence of close family and friends. I am really happy that I now have to look after two mothers- my mom and Kunjakka," said Jayaprakash.
