Greater Noida: As many as nine people were booked for allegedly cheating a number of
job seekers by promising them employment in government offices. Among the accused is Shivpujan, who claimed he worked in the CM’s office in Lucknow.
Each of the victims gave the accused Rs 5-6 lakh in the hope of landing jobs in the railways, defence or postal departments. Those who lost money are Dharamveer, a resident of Gajraula in JP Nagar who believed he would get a job in the railways, Rahul, a resident of Amroha who thought he would land a defence ministry job, and Mahtab Ali, who eyed a vacancy in the railway police.
Rahul told TOI he met Shivpujan outside a private company’s office in Greater Noida. “He told me he works as a section officer in CM’s office and can easily help me with a government job,” said Rahul, adding Shivpujan demanded Rs 5 lakh and told him he has a team of 8-9 people.
Shivpujan allegedly asked for the money in three instalments — Rs 1 lakh as advance, Rs 2 lakh after receiving the offer letter and Rs 3 lakh on the joining date. Police said a case of cheating, forgery and criminal intimidation has been lodged.
