Cobra slithers inside washing machine

Vadodara: The Patel family staying in Castle Villa colony at Harni got a scare of their lives on Tuesday night. When the family members were sitting outside their house after dinner, one of them saw something crawling at a distance. When they went to check out, they spotted a cobra.
“I got a call at about 11.45pm on Tuesday following which I rushed to the spot. The cobra had sneaked into the washing machine that was kept in the compound of the bungalow,” said Rinav Kadam, volunteer at Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).
“We had a tough time rescuing the cobra as it refused to come out,” he added.
Kadam said that the spectacled cobra was hiding in the small opening around the motor of the machine. It had coiled around the motor.

“I had to open many parts of the machine to spot the cobra that didn’t budge from the place it was hiding in. We had to handle it cautiously as cobras are very poisonous,” Kadam told TOI. After about an hour’s efforts, he could finally rescue the cobra.
Kadam said that there is good population of snakes in Harni area and this cobra must have ventured out of the dense trees nearby.
