Five Bengaluru residents killed, three injured in accident

The mishap occurred when tyre of the car burst and rammed into a lorry.
HUBBALLI: Five including four women and a driver of Bengaluru city were killed and three others including two children were injured in a road accident when a car they were traveling in collided with a lorry at Kunchiganalu village in outskirts of Chitradurga city on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred when tyre of the car having registration number KA 41/P 4941 was burst and rammed into a lorry with registration number RJ 48/GA 1133, coming from Chitradurga at Jagalur Mahantappa Petrol Bunk on National Highway-4. Police said car was heading to Badami and it was over speeding. "On prima facie driver’s negligence is reason for the accident," they added.

Four people-Ashok, 35, car driver, Shyamala, 64, Shobha, 45, and Sukanya, 67 were killed on the spot while Manjula, 45, succumbed to injuries later in hospital. Injured Pavitra, 30, Shreshtha, 07, and Arthat, 02, are admitted to government hospital in Chitradurga. All are said to be residents of Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru, and were going to Badami to have darshan of the goddess Banashankari.
Chitradurga Rural police have registered a case.
