PSI Amit chhowada
Vadodara: Police sub-inspector of Laxmipura, Amit Chhowada, was caught red-handed accepting bribe of Rs 35,000 from a man booked in a cheating case.
Chhowada had demanded the money for not beating up the accused while in custody and not framing him as the kingpin in the case. As the man did not want to pay the money, he informed his sister. The woman then contacted anti-corruption bureau (ACB) and informed about the demand of bribe. Based on the complaint, ACB planned a trap to nab him.
As per ACB’s plan, the woman agreed to pay Rs 35,000 cash to Chhowada. The cop asked the woman to come to the police station on Wednesday evening and hand over the cash to him. After the woman gave him the cash, ACB officials reached there to nab Chhowada and recover the cash from him. ACB sources said that they have also procured the recording of conversation between the complainant and the cop.

Officials said that Chhowada had become PSI only last year and used to serve in the as a constable earlier. He was posted at Laxmipura police station in February.
On June 27, inspector D K Rao of Gotri police station and a constable Nitin Prajapati were booked for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000. The duo had demanded Rs 1 lakh from the complainant to reach a settlement in a case.
