Deshpande is new NU pro-VC, Khaty registrar

Nagpur: Hours after exit of Nagpur University’s pro-VC Pramod Yeole, vice-chancellor SP Kane on Tuesday handed over the charge to registrar Vinayak Deshpande.
Kane also brought back Neeraj Khaty on the registrar’s post, while Anant Deshmukh has been made commerce faculty dean.
According to NU officials, this is a temporary arrangement made by the VC till regular appointments are made. While the NU has already advertised for the registrar’s post, which would take a long time to fill up due to complicated procedure, new pro-VC could be appointed soon as it’s the prerogative of the VC and the chancellor. Kane is expected to submit three names for his deputy’s post to chancellor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, who will then select one of them.
While Deshpande had earlier handled pro-VC’s and VC’s posts on officiating basis, Khaty looked after registrar’s post after Puran Meshram’s retirement.
