Vadodara: A labourer living in Darjipura near the city allegedly pushed his wife in Narmada canal at Khandiwada village in Waghodiya on Sunday midnight. The 23-year-old man Moin Oad was booked for murder of his wife Samiyabibi (21) after the latter’s body was found on Tuesday afternoon.
The couple had gone for a drive towards Halol after the final match of cricket world cup ended on Sunday night. On reaching the Narmada canal at Khandiwada, the couple went to the banks and washed their hands and feet. Police said that the couple suddenly got into arguments as Moin alleged that she did not know how to cook food and did not perform any domestic chores. As the arguments became heated, Moin got enraged and pushed Samiyabibi in the gushing waters of the canal.

Moin then returned home and told his mother on the next morning that Samiyabibi had left the home to go somewhere. His mother then went to Samiyabibi’s parents house in the same locality to inquire about her, but as she was not present there the family members started searching for her in the village. Later when they asked Moin, he admitted that he had pushed her in the canal. The family members went to the canal but did not find her belongings on the bank, so they approached the police.
Cops then informed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to search for her. NDRF personnel could find her body only on Tuesday noon four kilometre away from Khandiwada. On Monday, Waghodiya police had booked Moin for attempt to murder, but on Tuesday they added section of murder in the FIR against him.
