It's good to be the queen. Beyoncé's surprise Netflix special, HOMECOMING: A Film By Beyoncé, landed six Emmy nominations on Tuesday, including nods for Beyoncé herself in the writing and directing categories.

The Netflix documentary, which tracked Beyoncé's now-legendary 2018 Coachella performance from its conception to execution, was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special, Outstanding Costumes For Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Programming, Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction, and Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special. Beyoncé herself received individual nominations in those final three categories.

This is the second time a secretive Beyoncé release scored Emmys recognition. In 2016, the HBO special Lemonade gave Beyoncé her first-ever nod for directing.

Now, about that EGOT. For those not hip to acronyms, EGOT stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony -- and those lucky enough to have won awards at all four prestigious ceremonies are allowed entry into this fictional club. All told, only 15 people have qualified for an EGOT, including most recently John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Tim Rice, all of whom turned the trick in 2018. Other notable names on the list of EGOT winners include Rita Moreno, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, and Audrey Hepburn.

Beyoncé, it should be noted, only currently holds the "G" in EGOT. But with multiple chances at this year's Emmys and the potential for an original song nomination at the 2020 Oscars for her contribution to The Lion King soundtrack, she could find herself with an EGO before this time next year. Next stop, Broadway?
